This photograph is a view of Rubislaw Quarry situated to the west side of Aberdeen near the Queens Road. It is now disused and was shut down as a working Quarry for Granite extraction in 1971 after some 200 years of providing the very grey granite to build Aberdeen city and also exported abroad for many years it is now full of rain water as you can see .

Rubislaw Quarry is the largest man made hole in Europe at 460 feet deep the bottom is actually lower than sea level!
